Overcoming protein binding of Vitamin D Metabolites in Human Plasma

Applications chemists in Wales, UK, have developed a more sensitive sample preparation method for Vitamin D and Metabolites, 25-OH Vitamin D2 and 25-OH Vitamin D3, from Human Plasma. Utilizing the ISOLUTE SLE+ plates and an integral protein binding disruption step with Isopropyl alcohol, the extraction maximizes analyte recovery and eliminates the need for any offline protein precipitation. All results show recoveries above 85% with RSDs below 10%. LOQ values are 25 ng/mL for 25-OH Vitamin D2 and D3, with high recoveries also possible for the other Vitamin D metabolites.
