This application note describes a supported liquid extraction protocol for amphetamines from urine. The method includes a simple oxidation step prior to analysis which eliminates interferences such as ephedrine and pseudoephedrine (found in cold medicines) which can interfere with quantitation of methamphetamine. This can help to eliminate false screening results due to ingestion of cold remedies by the subject.
