ISOLUTE® ENV+ Used in a Novel Method to Fractionate Organic Contaminants from Oil Sands Process Affected Water

18 August 2015

A group of Canadian chemists have developed a cost efficient and environmentally friendly solid phase extraction method that complements an existing solvent solvent extraction method for isolating napthenic acids in oil sands process affected water.

Oil sands mining is growing in Canada and thus the need to evaluate the environmental impact on water is growing with it. The method described in this study uses a solid phase extraction protocol that is more quick, cost-efficient and green than existing methods.
