Biotage Introduces New Solution for Effective Analysis of PFAS in Biological Fluids

Written by Biotage | Mar 25, 2024 7:54:56 AM

Biotage, the Global Go-To Separations Company, introduces ISOLUTE® PLD+ for PFAS plates and columns, a new solution to analyze per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in biological fluids like blood and urine. The solution ensures accurate and reliable quantitation of PFAS at clinically relevant levels. Coupled with the automated Biotage® Extrahera™ LV-200 sample preparation system, it enables high-throughput processing, preparing 96 samples for analysis by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) in just 35 minutes.

PFAS, pervasive compounds found in various environments, pose significant health risks1 upon human exposure, including metabolic changes, elevated cholesterol levels, and increased cancer risks.

The analysis of PFAS in biological fluids presents a significant challenge for researchers2, as it requires precise quantitation at low levels. This task is further complicated by the complex nature of samples and the diverse structural characteristics of PFAS compounds.

Biotage offers tailored solutions for PFAS analysis in environmental samples, bolstering monitoring and regulatory initiatives against this pervasive contaminant. With the introduction of ISOLUTE® PLD+ for PFAS, our portfolio extends to biological fluids, facilitating exposomic and clinical research into PFAS exposure and its implications for human health.
