    Affinity Purification with PhyTip Columns

    Immunoglobins consist of four polypeptide chains – two identical heavy chains and two identical light chains. Both the heavy and light chains consist of different regions called the constant (C) and the variable (V) domains. Structural differences between the heavy chains allows immunoglobins to be divided into five different sub classes - IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE and IgD. Furthermore, immunoglobin light chains exist in two different types, which are referred to as lambda (λ) and kappa (κ). Modern cloning technologies also enable expression of recombinant antibody fragments, such as Fab fragments, Fv fragments and Fc fragments.
